Beschreibung:In this practice seminar, students learn about and experience hands-on the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) as an approach for sustainability transformation. To start, the origin of, motivation behind and content of the IDGs and their relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be introduced. This is followed by a series of applied exercises (in-class and homework) in which (elements of) key IDGs (e.g. self-awareness, taking others‘ perspectives, vision-building) are experienced by students themselves. Throughout the seminar, the case of cocoa production/chocolate consumption will be used as guiding example for sustainability transformation. The seminar takes place in form of two 2-hour sessions during the semester (27.6./4.7. 10:00-12:00) and four full days during the semester break (2.8./ 5.8./ 7.8./ 8.8. 10:00-16:00) on the Campus Westerberg. Participation in all sessions is obligatory. The grade will be composed of oral participation in the class exercises and discussions (50%) and a written documentation of key insights (following prespecified questions) (50%). Please note that this is an Economics seminar, not a BWL seminar.
Please be aware that this seminar is not the typical presentation-plus-essay-writing seminar and moves beyond mere content delivery to students. Please read the full course description carefully.
Questions on the seminar can be sent to bee-teaching@uos.de.
Hinweise zur VeranstaltungThe selection of participants is done manually after the registration and based on individual applications. As an application, we ask to send your current performance record (OPIUM Leistungsnachweis) to bee-teaching@uni-osnabrueck.de. If you are part of the MSc program in Economics and are planning to do the specialization in ‚Sustainability, behavior and environmental policy‘, please indicate so in your application email. Students from the specialization and those close to finishing their studies will be given priority. Please note that this is an Economics seminar, not a BWL seminar. Moreover, an interdisciplinary mix of students is a core element of this course. The application deadline is April 8.
Note: This is not the typical (presentation + essay) seminar - pls read the course description carefully.
Literaturwill be provided in the seminar
