Beschreibung:This course is designed for first semester students of ANG-B-LK or ANG-B1.
We will have a look at the following topics (amongst others):
- different extracts from poetry and prose
- first attempts at interpretation
- stylistic devices
- points of view
- how to cite sources correctly
- how to deal with different works of reference
- how to write a term paper
Please acquire Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest”, published by Penguin Books, ISBN 978-0-14-043606-8, as a paperback edition. Copies of this edition will be made available for you to purchase at Buchhandlung Zur Heide (Dielingerstraße 42B) but you may also purchase it at the bookstore of your trust and choice. Just make sure to buy the edition listed above as it will make reading in class a lot easier for us. In case you already own a different edition of the play, feel free to use that instead.
In the second half of the course (after Christmas), you will be asked to give a short presentation on a topic connected to the play. All else will be discussed in the course.
